Camels have two humps on their backs where fat is stored instead of water. This fat is used as an energy source in times of food shortage. The humps stand upright when the fat supply is at its maximum. The long eyelashes and the third, transparent eyelid protect the eyes from blowing sand. They can squeeze their nostrils together into slits so that no sand gets in.
